Bureaucracy Works for Me!

Just returned from the IL Secretary of State's office in downtown Chicago, where I was pleased to discover that I only had to pay $5 for a new copy of my license, and more importantly? I didn't have to sit for the damn photo again! (Which is good, because I am not having a good hair day.) But perhaps most amazingly: the woman who helped me was competent, friendly, and had me out the door within 10 minutes.

  • Yay! Glad that at least part of the recovery process is going smoothly. :)

  • Secretary of State?? What happened to the DMV?

  • Huh. I never really thought about that. Elsewhere in the city, you do go to the DMV to get your license renewed (I know because I did that back when I was down at U of C), but if you're downtown, you go to the Secretary of State License Renewal Office. Don't know why.
